Every green-building expert says the easiest way to make your astablishmetn more environmentally sensitive is to change all the light bulbs. Designed to replace the incandescent lamp the energy saving compct florescent bulb can fit in the existing light fixtures formerly used for incandescents. They give the same amount of available light and the CFL's use less power and have a longer rated life. In the United States, a CFL can save over US $30 in electricity costs over the lamp's lifetime compared to an incandescent lamp and save 2000 times its own weight in greenhouse gases. These bulbs contain murcery and need to be disposed of correctly.
